DYSTONIA MEDICAL RESEARCH FOUNDATION Chicago
Although I subscribe to all three dystonia magazines and contribute to them all, I collect different information from each of them. All the selected information is either pertinent to me or interesting enough that I want to read that segment.
For example, I was flipping through a back issue of Dystonia Dialogue and I came across a very interesting paragraph headed Dystonia and Parkinsons. Within this paragraph I read a sentence that said, “Secondary dystonia is caused by other neurological or metabolic diseases, medications, toxins, infections, tumors or trauma. Because of these factors people with secondary dystonia often experience additional neurological symptoms such as parkinsonism seizures, cognitive issues, ataxia or muscle weakness. This paragraph is one that I am particularly interested in and now I have something to show my doctor.
I had written two books on dystonia which has been mentioned many times on the internet. Recently, I’ve changed to writing children’s books. Not long ago I became aware that children get this ugly disease, too. They hurt as we do and I thought, I’d like to write something that could take their minds off their pain, even for a little while. I wrote “The Talking Baseball” now coming out with an actual electronic ball that talks. It is both a book and a game. Dystonia Medical Research Foundation’s web site now has a link to an animated video that appears on You Tube. I feel that children have been terribly neglected in their illness and they suffer just as much as adults do, maybe more so.
Please go to the sight, click on the talking ball that describes the book and the video. Watch it. I think you’ll agree that the kids will love it. Buy the book and know that for a short while, you will have given some relief to a child in need.
You should know that I’ve also made another decision. I intend to donate a percentage of all book sales to be divided among the three agencies. Hopefully, you can donate funds, too. Surely, it will help us all in research and in many other ways.
