“I’ve had a full and interesting life, working full time and raising two boys along with my husband. All the while I had dystonia, a rare neurological disorder in the basil ganglia of the brain. Doctors told me my dystonia would remain incurable. Furthermore, I was informed that I would not die from the disease. That is when I made up my mind to make something of myself.
I owned two women's specialty stores but I soon got out of the business to expand my knowledge. I went back to school to learn the new computers. After that, I put most of my effort into seeing that my sons got good educations. They did, and now they are both college professors.
Finally I retired from teaching word processing and was free to study whatever I wanted. The computer still intrigued me because I always wanted to write. My new book, The Talking Baseball, is about a young lad, Jake, who desperately wants to play baseball well and practices with his Dad often. Along the way, he bought a talking baseball. The ball guided first Jake, then later on Noah. Today both boys are confident and bright. And I think the Talking Baseball will have a big influence on their success.”

Bette Levine was born and raised in Syracuse, NY. While in high school and college, she received many awards because of her participation in sports, particularly baseball and basketball. To this day, she loves to watch sports events on television and on the field when possible. Even in her writing, she chose to write a sports story that would tweak children’s imagination. That is probably because she loves children and wants to make them all happy and successful in their endeavors. Now she finds it rewarding to observe her two grandsons in their athletic challenges.
